The Hidden Ectopic -Journal of Gynecology and Women’s Health-Juniper Publishers JUNIPER PUBLISHERS- JOURNAL OF GYNECOLOGY AND WOMEN’S HEALTH THE HIDDEN ECTOPIC Authored by Niranjana Jayakrishnan 46 year old nulliparous lady, with failed IVF cycles, underwent a repeat IVF. She conceived during that cycle. Beta hcg values were raised. However there was no intrauterine or extrauterine sac on ultrasound. Diagnostic laparoscopy was done since the beta hcg values were high. Dense bowel adhesions were seen on laparoscopy. Chorionic tissue was identified after dissecting the adhesions, though the tube could not be clearly made out. Patient was followed up with beta hcg levels which became negligible in 5 weeks. An online questionnaire was designed and distributed to London O&G trainees to assess their knowledge and experiences of FGM. The questionnaire was distributed to 108 trainees, and 33 responses were obtained (response rate of 30.6 %). 84.9% were comfortable with talking to a patient about FGM, 75.8% reported that majority of patients do not volunteer information about their FGM. The average family size in 2013 was 1.85 children, lower than in 2012. The factors which are seen to influence the number of births, average age of Mothers and the number of children are timing of child bearing, completion of family size, finance, housing, welfare and employment uncertainty. Statistics show that individuals are delaying child bearing and University Students are seen to delay child bearing further. Materials and Methods: Specimens submitted for histopathology at a Central Reference Laboratory serving the Igbo ethnic group in Nigeria are studied. Results: Much as this is reportedly rare, the Nigerian experience of ovarian teratoma is that it is not uncommon at cesarean sections. Conclusion: Ovarian specimens excised at cesarean sections are routinely submitted for histology. This is not the same practice in developing countries.
